Dealing with NEGATIVE People

How do I deal with negative people?

A few ways I’ve learned to deal with negative people when I just absolutely have to be around them is:

  1. Avoid lecturing or preaching to the person. I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t even waste my breath. If they don’t directly ask for my opinion then I keep it to myself.
  2. Act instead of reacting. Negative people feed off of each other and I’ve noticed that sometimes they like to pick at other people who carry a more positive vibe and intentionally push their buttons just to get a reaction.. but I’ve learned how to give them the exact opposite!! 😜 There’s some stuff you just leave alone. You don’t fix every problem that comes across your radar. You don’t try to straighten out every dispute that comes before you. I’ve learned to choose my battles wisely. Sometimes, peace is better than being right.
  3. Brighten the Conversation. Anybody that knows me knows I’m a goofy person. I love to laugh!! A lot of times, I’ll try to brighten the convo by attempting to bring laughter or positive vibes to it and if that doesn’t work then I get up & kindly walk away.

Other than those three methods that I just mentioned above.. I don’t fool with negative people! I just don’t. They’re like annoying bags of HELL !! I know that’s mean but it’s true and if you’re not careful, they will suck the “happy” right out of you. For that very reason, I keep my distance.✌

During the first two months of this year, I worked hard on regaining my sense of self-peace back and now that I have it back.. I’ve been very protective over it. As a matter of fact, I’ve been  on such a positive streak here lately that anything or anybody that is contrary to that is getting cut off. I’ve gotten to the point where I won’t even allow myself to be in the enviroment of negativity. I don’t go around negative, miserable, sour and petty people unless I just have to be there and you better believe if I have to go.. I’m carrying all kinds of positive vibes with me! I’ve gotten in the habit of setting the tone, setting the atmosphere for positivity just about anywhere I go. I try to make sure I bring laughter, good vibes, be uplifting.. I’ll get somewhere and start speaking life over people, speaking prosperity, I speak healing because there is power in your words! If you can believe what you keep speaking then you’ll also see whatever it is that you’re speaking come to past. That’s that faith talk right there! There is power in your tongue and don’t ever forget that. You can go somewhere or nowhere based on what you say and your belief in what you said. ❤

But some people don’t like that. They don’t like when you bring medicine to a conversation. They don’t want to be healed. They don’t want to be free. They don’t want to feel better about their situation. They could care less about a positive perspective. They would rather stay in bondage. They ain’t really looking for happiness. Most of the time they just want attention and that’s cool. I don’t even waste my energy entertaining that type of behavior anymore. I used to feel so sorry for people like that but at some point, I came to the realization that if/when they really want better, they’ll do better. No excuses. I kindly say a prayer for ’em and just go on about my business.

The older I get the more I realize that I won’t settle for anything that disturbs my peace and I’m serious. I don’t want to be around any drama, conflict or stress. If we don’t vibe the same.. I won’t entertain too much of a conversation with you. If our energies don’t match, you can just forget it. 🤷‍♀️That may have even sounded mean but you have to learn to not let bitter, unhappy people drag you down to their level.

This is my way of dealing with negative people while also maintaining keeping my peace protected. I haven’t always dealt with them this way and as a result in the past, it caused me to be emotionally stressed and irritated all the time. Thank God for better methods though!! Now my question to you is, how do you deal with negative people

As always.. thanks for reading!! I love you guys from the bottom of my heart! 🙂

  1. True talk! Negative people are really bad at making others miserable. 😥

  2. This was so encouraging and motivating!!! I agree with you 100%, Jessica ❤ It’s so hard to be around negative people when you absolutely have to (it gets really bad when they mess with you and you’re not even doing anything, ack!!!), but their stupidity is not worth our peace. I have to remind myself, over and over and over again, that when someone starts hating on me, it’s honestly a problem they have within themselves that’s coming out at me – I don’t ever do ANYTHING to rile anybody up! Anyway haha, you’ve really inspired me today – thanks for sharing! 🙂

  3. Jessica – Thanks for stopping by my blog and following; I am going to follow you as well. Negativity is too prevalent these days and sometimes it is hard to shake it off – but a good attitude likes yours will take you far. 🙂

  4. Nice post. I find that I can be a negative Nancy at some points in time and I’ve been trying to associate myself with more happier, upbeat positive people in hopes of changing my mood. It actually has been working and I’m happy about that because I don’t want to come off to anyone as a negative person. Thanks for sharing xoxo
